Porsche insurance
A Macan on the school run and a garaged air cooled 911 are not the same risk. Tell us which Porsche you have and brokers will match the cover to how you use it.
Porsche covers more ground than any other marque in this class. The range runs from a Macan doing daily kilometres, through Caymans and Boxsters used as weekend cars, to GT models that spend real time on circuit and air cooled 911s that have appreciated well past what their owners paid. Those need different policies. The common thread is that a mainstream motor product tends to under serve all of them, usually on settlement basis and repairer choice. CoverMy is free to use. One form, and licensed Australian brokers come back with options.
The first question a broker will ask is how the car gets used, because that decides which insurer suits. Daily driven Macans and Cayennes are often well served by mainstream terms with a few adjustments. Weekend 911s and Caymans usually do better on limited use terms with agreed value. Classic and air cooled cars sit in a different market again, where valuations and originality drive the sum insured. GT cars used on circuit need the track question answered before anything is bound.
Values on 911s from the air cooled era have moved a long way, and a market value settlement assessed after a fire or theft is a poor fit for a car whose worth depends on originality, matching numbers and history. Agreed value with a supporting valuation is the normal approach. Insurers will often ask about storage, how many kilometres the car does and whether it is used for club events. Porsche Classic supports parts supply for older models, which helps at claim time, though lead times are still real.
Electric models raise questions a combustion car does not. Battery packs are a large share of the vehicle's value, repair procedures for high voltage systems are restricted to trained technicians, and some damage that looks minor can still require a battery inspection. Charging equipment at home may or may not be picked up by the motor policy, and is sometimes better covered under home insurance. Ask your broker to be specific about how the insurer treats the battery on a partial loss.
More Porsches see circuit use than any other marque here, and this is where owners most often get caught out. Standard road policies commonly exclude timed and competitive events, and many exclude circuit driving of any sort. That includes sprints, club days and some manufacturer run experiences. If your GT3 or Cayman GT4 is going to be used the way it was built to be used, ask about standalone track day cover for those days and keep the road policy for the road.

It spans a wide range because the model range does. A daily driven Macan and a garaged 911 Turbo S are different propositions. Sum insured, annual kilometres, garaging, listed drivers, claims history and excess all feed in. A broker can put your details to several insurers and come back with real numbers.
It depends on the car. On a newer Macan or Cayenne market value may be perfectly reasonable. On a 911, particularly an older or limited model where values have risen, agreed value is usually the better fit because it fixes the total loss figure up front rather than leaving it to an assessment. Your broker will tell you what each insurer will offer.
Usually not under a road policy. Timed and competitive events are commonly excluded and many wordings exclude circuit driving of any kind, including club days. Standalone track day cover can be arranged for those specific days. Raise it before you enter, not after an incident.
Many policies allow you to nominate a repairer and some name approved networks. Worth confirming, since approved shops hold the training and equipment for the aluminium and mixed material structures used on current models, and repairs outside the network can affect a manufacturer warranty.
That is set by the policy and the insurer's repair procedures. Because the pack represents a large share of the car's value, the treatment of battery damage can decide whether a car is repaired or written off. Ask your broker to confirm the insurer's position rather than assuming it.
