Lamborghini ownership in Australia now splits two ways. The Urus gets driven like a family car and racks up real kilometres. A Revuelto or an Aventador tends to do a few thousand a year and lives in a garage. Those are different risks and they should not be priced the same way, which is exactly what a generic motor policy does. Specialist insurers underwrite these cars individually and will write terms around how the car is actually used. CoverMy is free to use. One form, and licensed Australian brokers come back to you.

What the cover usually includes

The base is comprehensive motor cover, so it responds to damage to your own car and to damage you cause other people and their property. Where a specialist policy earns its money is in the repair and settlement terms. Work through these with your broker rather than assuming them.

  • Agreed value fixed when the policy is written, so a total loss is settled on a known figure
  • Repairs directed to a workshop equipped for carbon monocoque and aluminium spaceframe structures
  • Genuine parts and how the policy deals with lead times from Sant'Agata
  • Cover while the car is with a dealer for servicing or with a detailer
  • Salvage retention, worth having on low volume models
  • Transport and storage after an incident

Why the structure changes the repair bill

The Aventador and Revuelto are built around a carbon fibre monocoque. The Huracan uses a hybrid aluminium and carbon frame. Damage that would be a straightforward panel repair on a steel car can mean structural work that only a handful of workshops in the country are certified to carry out. That is the reason insurers care so much about which repairer touches the car, and the reason a policy that lets you nominate one is worth more than it looks on the quote sheet.

What drives your premium

The sum insured comes first, then how the car is used. Annual kilometres carry real weight, and a car doing under 5,000 a year is often priced accordingly. Overnight garaging matters, particularly for a car with this profile parked anywhere public. Insurers also look at your claims and driving history over roughly five years, who else you want listed as a driver and what excess you are willing to carry. Adding an inexperienced driver to a car with this much power is where most declines happen.

Track use, storage and the Urus question

Road policies commonly exclude timed and competitive events, and often circuit use of any kind. If the car will see a track day, ask about standalone cover for those days rather than assuming the road policy stretches. The Urus raises a different point. Because it gets used as an everyday vehicle, some owners are better served by terms written for regular use, while the second car in the garage sits on limited use terms. A broker can structure both, sometimes on the one policy.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Lamborghini insurance cost in Australia?

It depends heavily on the model and the use. A Urus doing 20,000 kilometres a year and a garaged Aventador doing 2,000 are priced very differently even at similar values. Garaging, listed drivers, claims history and excess all feed in. A broker can put the risk to several insurers and come back with real numbers rather than a range.

Should I insure for agreed value or market value?

Agreed value is the usual choice at this end of the market. It fixes the total loss figure when the policy is written instead of leaving it to an assessment after the car is gone. On limited production models the difference can be substantial. Values move, so the figure is normally reviewed each renewal.

Who can repair the car after a claim?

That is set by the policy. Some wordings direct you to an insurer network, others let you nominate a workshop. For a carbon monocoque car this is not a small detail, since only a limited number of Australian workshops are equipped for structural carbon work. Ask your broker to confirm the position in writing.

Can I use the car on a track day?

Generally not under a road policy. Competitive and timed events are commonly excluded and many wordings exclude circuit driving outright. Separate track day cover can be arranged for those specific days. Raise it before the event.

I have several cars. Can they go on one policy?

Often yes. Collection or multi vehicle policies exist and can be simpler to manage than separate policies, sometimes with a shared driving allowance across the cars. Whether it suits depends on the mix. Your broker will tell you if it is worth doing in your case.
